The Yardbirds Recorded Train Keptarolin
Ralph's drunk, sloppy vocal was caught on the backing track of Train Keptarolin. The Yardbirds version built on the Johnny Burnett recording and turned it into one of the hardest rock tracks ever recorded to that point. Beck had enormous respect for Ralph's talents as a frontman but thought Phillips horribly unprofessional for his dismissive attitude. He later recut the vocal more competently, with Roy Halli Engineering in New York, but the combination of the two vocals gives the track an unusual feel which inspired many future garage bands.
