The Importance of Respect in Politics

I think that this is the best job I've ever had in my entire life. It's a privilege to be a member of Parliament. Westminster can also be a very kind place. When I was going through my experience with kidney cancer, I had an outpouring of love and support on all sides of the House of Commons. My anxiety is that there will be people from underrepresented backgrounds who see those headlines and think, oh, that's not for me. Those people are exactly the people we should be trying to attract.
