A Deadly Wedding Day
I set it just after the end of the Second World War in the very, very early days of the National Health Service. A deadly wedding day on the other hand takes place in an apparently more optimistic and progressive decade, the 1960s. What's interesting though is that both writers give Marple a friend who does not make an appearance in any of Agatha Christie's stories. In Dreda's story, Miss Marple's sidekick is called Miss Bella. Just like Miss Marple, Miss Bella had something of a reputation as an amateur detective.
