Friendship With God
The friendship that God establishes with us now on earth, Aquinas reminds us is the same that will endure forever in glory. So we can't become God's friends, but God makes us friends by grace through the instrumentality of the sacred humanity of Christ. And then by extension and fulfilling the double command love it's not only that we love God for God's sake but also our neighbor forGod's sake. That's part of the whole mystery of Christian friendship.
