In 1918, Sir Edward Mellon B set out to induce Ricketts experimentally in his chosen study animal puppies. Among the foods he tried were cod liver oil, butter, and whole milk. At the time, we're known to be rich in fat-soluble vitamin A, which had already been found by that point.
