In 1960, Catholic priest John Fite sexually assaulted and murdered a 25-year-old Texas school teacher named Irene Garza. For decades, there were rumours that the Catholic Church covered up the murder to protect one of their priests,. despite a lot of evidence against him. He died in prison three years ago at age 87, having remained free for most of his life.
