The Importance of Character Development in the Christian Life
The best representation of clergy, particularly in the Christian life that I've seen is in Marilyn Robinson's Gilead. That makes me think of Robert Capen's novel, X86, which is about a priest caring for his parish after one of his parish members commit suicide. And so you read this character who's genuinely trying to sort of love and pastor his congregation,. But there's something very compelling about that.
