How to Light a Scramjet Engine
Airframe in the engine has to be integrated and you have to design both together. A scramjet wouldn't work at low speed because you just don't get the compression. The X-51, for example, put an ATACIMS booster on the back of the vehicle. It took the whole stack after we dropped it off the B-52 out to about mark 4.5.
