What Is Dead Space?
Dead space is the fraction of tidal volume which does not participate in gas exchange. It splits into two components, this physiological dead space, anatomic and alviler. The anatomical dead space takes up roughly about 20 to 30 % of the tidal volume at rest. At a very low tidel volume, gas exte continues to be more effective than one might expect. In diseased states having gas in non pofused alviola may vary overtime.
