Is There a Fat Cell That Causes Insulin Resistance?
Fat tissue on a body can grow through two different ways. The body can either be expanding its fat mass through a process calledhyperplasia or a process called hypertrophy. When a fat cell undergoes hypertrophy, it expands by 10 times. Once the fat cell starts to get to that point, it literally is reaching a maximum point that the cell membrane can stay intact. And so all of a sudden the hypertrophy adipocyte becomes resistant to insulin's anti-lipolytic effects. In other words, it will not let insulin stop it from breaking down fat anymore. So free fatty acids start to dump from the hypertrophic fat cell into the blood. Less I fall
