The Evolution of Electricity and Magnetism

The development of the electrical world can be seen as a chain of events. James Clark Maxwell's equations were first understood through what are now known as Maxwell's equations. This understanding was then used to develop technological developments, most notably those by Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse. The failure of a simple electrical relay at that same Niagara Falls generating station initiated the power grid failure in 1965 which plunged the Northeast into darkness.
