The war would continue to rage on italian soil for another 13 years. Through natural selection, the inferior roman commanders were weeded out and the survivors were far more vigilant against hannibal's tricks. Any defeat faced by the romans was nowhere near the disasters that befell them at the trebia trasamine or canai.
