We know from controlled experiments that if they wanted to domesticate crops the way thatan agricultural revolution would have hypothetically happened, they could have done it so much quicker. It's not because people of the time, prehistoric people, were confused or incompetent. They'e been doing it for tens and hundreds of thousands of years. And clearly they took the measure of agriculture and for a very long time, decided not to go the whole way.
