Open Telemetry Project - What Is It?

The open telemetry project is not concerned with the visualization or analysis of any of the data that's being collected. Instead, its goal is to build and define a standard for software and hardware telemetry. It will also provide language like programming language specific libraries so they can collect data and transform it into an open standard form at a wire format.
