The Second Anointing

The Book of Mormon is Testament of Christ. Elder Bednar didn't describe the details of translation when he was asked about it. If this part about skin changing color is literally true, what is its readers learning about Jesus? Maybe it is something more than what we would learn from the Bible, but that doesn't necessarily make it a good thing.
