We are all carrying the pain of this life and sharing in it together. You are called upon to meet it in compassion, forgiveness instead of self pity. So this was the first blessing that Nachiké to ask for. It's like Don Juan's question to Carlos Costenated: Does the path you're living have a heart? If it does, it is wonderful. If it doesn't, it is of no use.
