The Importance of Empowerment in the Body of Christ
I think there is a very big difference between empowering someone in the body of Christ and exploiting somebody. You know if your church is merely exploiting you because you have a certain gift or talent, they're just going to drain you dry. We're not called to be exploited. I've never liked that phrase of even this idea that God uses people. He doesn't use us. Now he collaborates with us absolutely. The Spirit of God is always moving. It's always at work. So first we have to stop and see, well, what is it that God is doing? And then to say, well,What is the role that I could play in assisting that?
