The last ice age lasted from about a hundred thousand years ago to about 12,000 years ago. The climate is even affected by the flow of the continents and that can have significant effects on the climate as well. It's a big, complicated system with a huge number of feedback cycles,. so if you get it a little bit wrong, then you can get it a lot wrong.
