The Night of the Betrayal
In the early Christian church, what did they do? They got together and they had a meal. Why? Because he's the reason why we're here. Now that leads us to the arrest after his atoning sacrifice after his suffering in that garden. Here comes Judas with the arresting officers and Jesus is going to be taken into custody. So this kiss is the height of irony. The gospel writers are using this image to portray one of his inner circle turning Jesus over to those authorities.
