The Role of the News in Politics
In today's society, we need it sometimes actively and sometimes we desire it. The news gives us a way to think about things which saves us the work of developing a nuanced opinion. And so, in a way, it kind of fulfills a need to feel informed. It needs to feel like we are actively analyzing these things when simply we don't have the time. But for him, the point was never to step away or kind of get out of things, but to actively fight through it and search for a truth beyond it.
