Julia B. Lindsey is the author of Reading Above the Fray and she's going to help us think a lot about decoding for our beginning readers. She began her career in education by working with a summer program called the Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools. But it also started me down a path of kind of scratching my head about when are we focused on teaching kids the act of reading, of how to read.
