The free energy principle says that if I exist at non-equilibrium steady state, it will look as if my behavior is being generated by a statistical model of my environment. It's similar to Dennett's "intentional stance" where we adopt towards others a perspective that ascribes to them beliefs and desires. And for our survival and in, in so far as our capacity to explain the behaviors of others is involved, it's adaptive and efficient to do so, right?
