Total Weather Insurance: How to Scale Your Business
Last year we launched a program called Total Weather Insurance. We're probably the largest user of the elastic map reduce service at Amazon, which is basically Hadoop in the cloud. There's 160 million acres of corn and soybeans planted just in the Midwest of the United States. Our product costs $40 an acre. There's $6 billion of revenue we're going after. More than half of the farmers that are offered our product actually buy it.
