The History of the Savonarola Chair

The Q-Rall was used as the seat of a bishop when travelling through his district. The structure resembled the Roman curved X, but had several overlapping wooden slats rather than two frames crossed over. It usually included armrests and a backrest, the latter folding away on top of the chair. A century later, in the 1500s, the seat had become increasingly elaborate with reliefs carved into the backrest.
