Snakebite Deaths in the West
The figure of snakebite fatalities is normally put between 94 and 138,000 people a year. A lot of people bitten in villages don't want to go to the sterile hospital long distance away because they want to stay with their family. I suppose in a way, it's a bit like if you're a terminal cancer, you'd rather be with your family and friends in familiar surroundings than in a white-coated hospital or something like that.
