Using Direct Addressing in an Instruction Set Architecture
In many instruction set architectures, instructions can come in different formats. Different these different types of instructions may be useful for different purposes. Some can have longer upcos, and some can have shorter up cos. As long as there's a clear pattern that allows the control unit to detect what type of instruction it is, then that's perfectly fine.
