There've been a few tells that the government hasn't really been as focused on this being a really about journalism. And the biggest one of those was the initial draft of the code. The most trusted journalistic organization in australia, the a b c, and another government funded broadcast were initially excluded. This wasn't so much about funding quality journalism as it was putting a buck in the back pocket of rupert murdock. It makes a ton of sense, right? Like paying for every serch link is dangerous.
