Sojourner was one of these missions where, am, kay, lets lets go. Let's let's test out the technology. Technology demonstration was really the focus a but no one knew if it was going to work or not. Andet i'm going to tell ta little story. Were you at j p l when the first landings on mars happened? Yes, it was in the summer. The budget for it was pitiful. I mean, the scientists and engineers were scraping it together, and yet it was successful. That set the trajectory for the mars exploration and doing missions every 18 months.
