So all in all, this story probably represents both the minor nobilities and also the yeoman classs resentment towards the church,. They saw as sucking up land and hoarding wealth and power and prestige - which they could do without fighting. Whereas knights went combat, whereas archers could be summoned and mustered for the king's wars, the church didn't have
