Can a Herald Be Happy?

Chana is known as quo, the guard and so the thought is that maybe her instinct to guard and to protect is being perverted or heightened here. Can a herald be living a happy life at this point in their story? I don't think so. It does seem like, again, we only see chalon's mam from chalon's perspective, so it's very hard to tell what is real.
