The Life and Times of Mary Hopper
In 1943, Hopper decided that she wanted to join the US Navy. She would end up joining the Naval Reserves and becoming one of America's first computer programmers. Most of her work came down to running calculations for the military. Her code would even end up being used in parts of the Manhattan project.
