Until now, Hitchens was an anti-imperialist. He opposed the first Gulf War and wrote a book length argument for Henry Kissinger to be tried for war crimes. Here he is making the case for a war that many of his former comrades believed was an act of naked U.S. imperialism. But in 2005 at a famous debate in New York City with George Galloway, hitchens defended Iraq's elected Kurdish president Jalal Talabani.
