Should We Be Stopping Warfarin on These Patients?
dialysis patients are at higher risk of bleeding, but they're also at a pretty significant risk of stroke. Warfarin can cause this calcifylaxis which is oftentimes a lethal complication. The problem with the dovac is they're just not well studied in dialysis patients. Eliquis is licensed for use indialysis patients, but it's evidence based is pretty thin. There's a pretty good debate about which dose to use and whether you're getting adequate anticoagulation with it. And I think the jury spit is it's a bit uncertain.
