The House Bill on Asylum - What's the Point?
The bill would ban anyone arriving via a safe country from claiming asylum in the UK. It then gives the government the power to detain those people firstly for up to 28 days without access to bail or appeals. And it also places a duty on the home secretary to remove those people who have been deeming them permanently inadmissible. But there are no significant changes to the capacity for returns and removals, Rhys says.
