Afroben invents a wonderful piece of work in the 1680s, called Love Letters Between a Nobleman and His Sister. The whole thing is set against the background of the Monmouth Rebellion. It combines the politics and the romance in a very awkward way. We're going to go abroad in a minute, with Samuel Richardson's Pamela.
