I imagine that the Republican Party establishment is trying its best to persuade him not to run, because they will have taken a lesson from these midterms and thought he's not a winner in a general election. And I think this is why I don't think it's particularly helpful to talk about the right versus the left in this discourse. It really is the fringes versus the center. The gap has widened inexorably since about the 1970s. This whole movement on the right, on the left, on whatever fringes you choose against the center, against the elite. That is animating this whole thing.
