The Red Army and the War of Independence in Ukraine

In november and december, the red army crossed the lines formerly demarcated by the treaty of breslei tosk. And that's what started all these various wars of independence. Astonia and lithuania both put up considerable resistance to the red army. In all cases, though, moscow's goal was to set up local soviet socialist republics which would aline with russian communist party.
