The Fed's Action to Reduce Mortgage Rates
In 2020, the governor of the Bank of Canada went on national news and said that interest rates will continue to be low for a very long time. Now we're seeing headlines like these where it says, as interest rates continue to rise, keep in mind they just rose them again. Some variable rate mortgage borrowers are seeing their amortization periods extend to 60, 70, even 90 years.Canada's federal regulator is now acting to reduce the risk posed by such forever mortgages.
