Only 67 passengers and eight flight attendants survived the crash. The pilot of an airboat who witnessed the crash rushed over to help try to rescue survivors. One survivor received burns to his face, arms and legs as a result of spilled jet fuel. And they were credited with helping other survivors by telling them not to strike any matches.
