The Effects of Motherhood on Workplace Experience
Women with children at home are much more likely than men to feel a great deal of pressure to focus on family needs. So partly a result of these pressures and perhaps partly by choice, it's hard to sort out or disentangle these two forces. With the onset of motherhood, when about two thirds of women ages 35 to 44 have children at home, we find that they tend to retreat from the labor force.
