More than 400 thousand commercial recordings were sold before 19 23. After all that experimentation, record labels landed on something that lots of people would buy. But we wouldn't be able to hear much of this at all if it weren't for the archivist who have saved and preserved this material for years. We heard the first technical experiments, the amateur home recordings and finally, sounds most enduring commodity music.
