What Was Good About the 1980s and What Was Less Good?
It was quite a good period to be a journalist. A good time to be starting out because there was an explosion of entrepreneurial activity in the print journalism space, partly as a result of Rupert Murdoch's defiance of the print unions and whopping. I remember being asked when I first applied for a job as a news training at the Times by the editor whether I would have any qualms about crossing a picket line. But very different to today.
