The Joshua Tree is the band's first album in six years. Barlow: "I feel it very viscerally. It's just like in my gut is where I receive music" He says he has an innate understanding of what a melody is and how to get it out on stage. The singer-songwriter adds that his strengths are instinctive rather than technical, so sometimes not knowing theory leaves you hostage to inspiration.
