The Story of Captain Alfred Horn
Captain Alfred Horn had been trying to land at Dungevel House, but hadn't been able to find it in the darkness. He decided to ditch the plane and parachute to the ground. The pilot landed about thirty feet in front of a local farmer named David McLean. Mr. McLean took him into his cottage while another man went for the police. Some men from the wartime Home Guard arrived, having seen Captain Horn parachuting to the Ground. They took him to their Home Guard base, where he was searched, and he was then taken to Mary Hill Barracks in Glasgow.
