Conspiracy theorists' enthusiasm for the pursuit of truth is not matched by a correspondingly heightened sensitivity to their own incognative bias. The fact that conspiracy theorizing typically, as that word again, involves a greater degree of intellectual activity than that involved an acceptance of an official account. Conspiracy theorists will consider relefiting to developing and motivating their theories while downplaying the possibility that their conclusions are due in large part to the exhibition of intellectual vice or reliance on unreliable sources of information.
