How to Replay a State Machine in a Debugger
WICAT allows you to replay your entire history by just passing the operations through the input as the input to a state machine. It's really, I mean, there's many different terms for it and different techniques. And so that's how WICAT is built, essentially. But yeah, what I showed was that you can reset this. You can then kick off the play of recording. So it was pretty neat.
Andrew Stone of Oxide Engineering joined Bryan, Adam, and the Oxide Friends to talk about his purpose-built, replay debugger for the Oxide setup textual UI. Andrew borrowed a technique from his extensive work with distributed systems to built a UI that was well-structured... and highly amenable to debuggability. He built a custom debugger "in a weekend"!
