"I was stunned. I should have read the tea leaves," Jobs says of being fired in 2002. "You can get fired, but do it in an elegant way," he adds about his firing by Gap CEO Don Mattrick. Steve Jobs didn't show up to a board meeting that day and told Mattress Firm's then-chairman: "We're going to turn around the company." The two men were friends for 18 years before their split.
