The Importance of Vector Code in AVX
In many cases, the vector version is nonsensical in the extreme. You can't express everything in an easy fashion using vectors. So use a lot more of lookup tables and esoteric instruction to achieve what you want. This is not something that you pick in afternoon, but it is absolutely something that you want if you care about overall performance.
