CHAPTER

Is It Possible to Have a Coherent National Identity?

Is it possible that political communities have just become too large and too pluralistic to cohere around a meaningfull shared identity, not men? The size and the diversity are separate issues. I mean, ter the united states split into two factions prior to the civil war, when there was only like 30 million americans around. And conversely, it's possible to have large diverse societies that are run under liberal rules,. up until the rise of norendro modi, that accommodated sustant degrees of diversity. But yes, i think that there are many forms of diversity, and some forms of diversity liberalism just can't deal with because it runs too deep.
