Serbia was about to hold Eurovision State Eurovision in Belgrade in 2008. The Serbian entry ended up being a folk inspired song called, um, Oro. It mentioned Vito of Dan or Saint Vittis' day which takes place on June 28 and has so much historical meaning for Serbs including their defeat at the Battle of Kosovo in 1389. This is a political message to those who understand Serbian and the meaning of this date in Serbian history but it still managed to get past the censor in Eurovision and it was not banned from the contest. Of course because the subs could also argue well you know it's a big national holiday anyway. And then law and behold
